Written Assignment, "The Kite Runner", Creative Writing (607 words)

My dear Amir,
I hope this letter actually arrives to you, maybe it is all covered in dust by the time it reaches you, who knows, you may be a famous story teller by now. Amir of mine, I am old, I am decaying, so before is too late I want to tell you secrets I have kept away from you all this years, I want to leave clean from this world. By now you may know the thrush behind the lies, but I fell that the best way is to prove it through my own words. Amir, you have a brother, one that was with you through your entire childhood, I know you have knowledge of who I am talking about. Hassan, he is your brother, the story behind it is the following, it all started a month from your mother's death, I was heartbroken and Sanaubar was the only one around to support me, at first it was just a game somehow, but it started to get serious within a year, nine months later, Hassan was born. I looked for any possibility of him not being mine, but when I found out that Amir was not able to conceive it was all clear, he was mine, the boy between me and a Hazara woman. I did not told anyone, the only people that knew it where, aside from me, Rahim Khan, Ali, and of course, Sanaubar. the reason of why I kept it a secret was because back in Kabul the only thing our family had was honor, but I did not wanted to protect my honor, wanted to protect yours, therefore, you. I wanted to protect you from the opinion of the rest, from the look that people would've thrown at you when you walked through the streets of Kabul. When Sanaubar left I made a promise to myself, I will take care of Hassan without doubt, but admitting he was my son was an unthinkable decision, regardless of this you two grew up together as true brothers. Hassan being mine was one of the main reason of why I reacted so desperately when Ali decided to leave the house I felt like he was taking away a part of me, I could not imagine him serving other person, anyone that would not treat him and his family as well as I did. Maybe at this point of of reading this letter a bit of the respect for me has faded, taking with it part of the credibility of our relationship. You may be still wondering why I did this, why I hid it from you?, so many question popping simultaneously on your head. The answer, once again, it was to protect you, all I wanted was to give you a peaceful life, without complications, no troubles surrounding your life, it was not for me, it was for you. Amir, I want to leave this world with you aknowledging my love towards you, so I want you to know, I do not blame you for your mother's death, that is my problem, I love you Amir, but with her death she took away that sentimental part of me. I admire the way you face life, the different, alternative, point of view you have for your existence and the way you face adversities. I love you Amir and I will always do, and when I leave this world I want you to remember me as the man who took care of you, who raised you, who loved you, I want to be remembered as you father.

Best of my wishes for your life Amir
                                                     ~Baba

Written Assignment, "The Kite Runner", Rationale

"The Kite Runner" tells the story of Amir, an afghan kid who spent his childhood on Kabul, alongside with his servant's child, Hassan. the novel tells the way how Amir faces adversities, leaving his hometown due to a soviet invasion, realizing that his childhood friend is no longer with him, and finding out that Hassan was actually his brother. The following letter is discovered years later from Baba's death when Amir goes through Baba's old things. On the letter he explains the reasons behind Hassan's birth and why he kept it a secret from him. He tells him on the letter when the relationship with Sanaubar (Hassan's mother) started, how he feels about it, and many other aspects on the relation between Amir and Him. The reason why all of this is written on a letter and not through other way is because this text type is the most frequent and the most accurate way to tell messages inside the novel.
